Off to China

One area of my research focuses on the security environment in the Asia-Pacific and I’m headed to Beijing today for a conference on the relationship between economics and security in the Asia-Pacific. The conference is sponsored by the Browne Center for International Politics at Penn (run by my senior colleagues Avery Goldstein and Ed Mansfield). I am presenting a paper on globalization, the Information Age, and the future of defense production in the Asia-Pacific. The paper picks up on some of the themes explored in the conclusion of my book about the ways information-based changes in the production of military power, like robotics, could shape the balance of power in the future.
